  • Advising on direction of design process and creative concept
  • Advise on creative technologies and software useful for the project

Background

The Digital Society School traineeship program aims to support learners to grow their skills and develop their full potential in innovative interactive media. Trainees were found to have difficulty in integrating into the broader university and Dutch society, as well as experiencing stress and dissatisfaction during the start of Covid-19 with approx. 20% dropping out of the program.

Design Challenge

The design challenge was to create a virtual hub for new learners, which would include resources and activities (both virtual and on campus) related to the development of a sense of belonging. The main goal of the hub was to make sure outcomes of learners retention and satisfaction were improved.

Outcome

A modular, virtual hub was created that offered multiple functionalities: a culture corner, workshop and portfolio space, and a chat. To support this hub in the physical space, a pre-arrival envelope and post-arrival goodies box were also designed.
