What if you were in a physical space but it in itself did not feel physical, it felt fake? What if VR could feel more real than the physical space you are in?
Life Line
As the price of neural cameras became very affordable, medical researchers started to conduct neural tests on human bodies. Huge medical success was encountered with coma patients, as the images captured directly from neural activity created a way to communicate. This new form of communication was quickly picked up to allow not only comatose, but also others such as the blind, mute, and neurodivergent to more easily express their perspective.
The medical breakthrough made such an impact on society that fashion designers celebrated this pivotal moment through face-gear inspired by the first comatose patients in the experiment. Observe the tube from electrical wiring, a remnant of the tubes used to supply coma patients with air. Second, the heart rate monitor, able to be tailored to a person’s current emotional state by simply bending the wiring or changing the colours, and lastly the matching jewelry.
We were given a newspaper with fictional headlines from the future. The news article stated cheap neural camera’s were now used to create a film from the perspective of an avocado. Through speculative design we created a fictional scenario from this article. This inspired a physical prototype, which need to also be turned into a face filter.
What if you were in a physical space but it in itself did not feel physical, it felt fake? What if VR could feel more real than the physical space you are in?
What if you were able to control the earth's rotation?
How will future fashion be inspired based on a fictional scenario?
